I would like to see a feature that would personalize modules throughout the site.

For instance if I post a tag in a news submission like so !!!First Name!!! !!!Last Name!!! and or !!!Nuke User Name!!! then the appropriate data would be replaced within the news submission.

I would like to use these type of tags through out the site so that they would get replaced so the user is reading something directed to them personally.

We would only need a small set of tags to work like their real first name , last name and nuke name/username.

We could add some type of javascript code into the head of the template so that when it sees any one of these tags it will substitute the users data when compiling the page.

It can be coded to substitute certain words if their profile is empty for the first name field. Like the name " Friend "

This would be a great step towards keeping the users involved and feel a sence of belonging.

We all like to hear and read our names when people are communicating with us.

There is no reason this couldnt be accomplished.

Does anyone else agree or disagree that this would be a good idea?

Thanks,
Richard Wing

That's an interesting idea.

For current module developers they actually have those fields available and can personalize content by including the appropriate variable.

I understand that. but I am wanting an addon feature so that if we as non coders want to use a tag in a lanquage file or withing the modules submit or posting features the addon or modification would convert all tags to the users appropriate information before the page is loaded to the user.

Any idea on whether this can be done as an addon type feature for us non coders?

Thanks,
Richard Wing
