The featured story can be pretty hot... what I would like to see is a mod/add-on to Submit News, where the user could bid to have their article appear in the featured section. I have seen some of this on php sites (not phpnuke tho) .

After they submit the news it asks if they want to place the article in featured articles, lets say by the week... 1 week $5 2-10 3-15 4- 20 (they can choose the amount to donate and the number of weeks to have it there) After the time they give it would put the article in the topic and place they choose originally, using the original date.

This would take them to a screen that lets them copy a random number once coppied they click continue.

That screen takes them paypal pay center, where they pay the amount. Once paid it brings them to the site where they put in the code they copied. Can't get there without going thro paypal paid... they put in the number, and presto it appears in the featured article catagory for as long as they paid for.

The bidding part of this is, depending upon how much they donated per week is where it shows in the featured articles. The lower the the amount the closer to the bottom it shows up. If they bid the highest, it shows up under any webmaster articles.

This could also automatically upgrade the author to the Nuke_authors db and list them as a member (with news priveledges only)

---

upgrade possibilities: Allows user to post picture and links. Let's other sites copy the article to put on their homepage. Brings author to author page where he/she can take past aricles and bid on them see http://ideamarketers.com to see how this actually works.
They have it, and until metopen home came out, there was no reason to even think of the possibilites.

If you could do this and keep the price below 20.00 my uncle would let me buy it. That is how much he thinks this mod/add-on would be worth... and with so many phpnuke sites out there you would have build in sources.

The key is story placement and photo add on for this to be worth it, image the pooibilities. Sites like am-nuke codezwiz and others that get lots of news articles would love it.

Sounds like an interesting idea. I wonder if Nukeroyal has something like that planned.
