g day heshys, good day all here

let us ponder on that issue a bit - this could be important if we want to serve the community with the good news - and with a strong and sustainable development.

see good reading on that issue:

1 . http://opensource.mit.edu/papers/neus.pdf
...economics of information enable a new paradigm of collaboration. Spearheaded by the Open Source community, this evolutionary approach to collaborative content creation is a way to address information quality in virtual communities of practice

2 http://opensource.mit.edu/papers/hemetsberger2.pdf
Fostering cooperation on the Internet: social exchange processes in innovative virtual consumer communities

virtual communities of consumers increasingly engage in voluntary collaborative production of digital goods and services which became highly successful in recent years. Within a culture of gift-giving and generalized social exchange, knowledge as the main resource of the community is multiplied by giving it away freely to others and thus, fosters contribution behavior. Friendship, peer reputation and external feed-back provided by a global user community represent highly motivating social rewards which, combined with individual gain of knowledge, constitute a self-sustaining system of exchange.

Well heshys - please help out to create such a system of contribution and culture of gift-giving and generalized social exchange, knowledge as the main resource of the community is multiplied by giving it away freely to others and .....to create a self sustaining system of exchange

heshys i am open for your ideas - let us kick some ideas up and down the road - and let us write some aritlces to the user on nukecops.com

i am curious of the near and far future of phpnuke - of the nuke community.- i guess that the future is open and bright

am very interested in the module you are planning -please keep me informed - as well as the community.

many thanks
best regards

Welcome NukeEvangelist,

Just to keep the community abreast of a conversation offline- we were discussion creating some mechanism to get nuke news to people in an efficient way. For example, currently a module/theme developer needs to log onto multiple sites and post the news via copy and paste.

Here's a few ideas to get the ball rolling.
module it saves your name and password for each site you want to submit to and your enter your article info once and it submits to the sites.
Mail list some kind of list that will help populate sites.
RSS Feed (i'm not knowledgable enough with this yet to know how feasible it is) have a special tag so that "released" news from your site goes to a special RSS feed that other sites can pick up and automatically import into news module (to be approved).

I want to avoid having each site be duplicates of each other. Each nuke admin can chose news to display that is appropriate to their site.

On a side note: you said "culture of gift-giving", I actually dont totally agree with that phrase. I encourage sharing and that's different than gift-giving. A gift is given one way, i think everyone should contribute to the community. Each person has their own skill set: some are programmers, others are designers, some are wordsmiths etc each person has some skill that can add value. Each person should use their skills to give back something to the community (or at least try) and it doesn't have to be proportional to their use there are many like bob, raven and chatserv (to name a few- there are many more i know so i'll stop so i dont offend) who give much more than we ever could repay, but each should give what we can. For example, your contribution is spreading the word on the latest in the nuke world (thank you) that helps one of my pet peeves of duplication in the phpnuke community.

If each person contributes a little, we'll have a lot.

(I'll read those pdfs shortly)

g day metopen

thx for the reply - i totally agree with you - everyone can give a bit - and we all have a lot. If we combine and leverage the scattered contributions then we gain alot - and the global communty will appreciate the contributions.

i like the technical ideas that you discuss.

the module-solution
the rss way of doing informationsharing.
the mail-list way.

that are valid points that you raise.- let us kick some ideas up and down the road.

greetings
ne.

www.code-authors.com already does this using a combination of RSS XML and email2forum post injection.
