| Answer | | · What are MetPoints? MetPoints is MetOpen''s internal reward system for contributers to the community. Points can then be used to "vote" on which ideas MetOpen should implement. The more votes an idea gets the more likely it is to get implemented.
"MetOpen pays you back" [ Back to Top ]
| | · Why is the MetPoints system so good? By offerering MetPoints MetOpen has devised a system that strengthens the PHPNuke and Open Source community in the following ways:
See results for your volunteerism You will see that not only are your contributions helping the comminity in return you are getting the features you need implemented.
Everyone can participate For those that have a few dollars they can donate. Even those that dont have money can participate by contributing their time and expertise be it programming, graphics work, beta testing, do*****entation- everyone has something that they can contribute.
Limits Free Rider Input- The users who do not contribute back to the community should not get undue influence on future versions. They will still get access to the end result but unless they contribute they shouldn''t get access.
Pools resources to get features done- The MetPoint system offers a way for users all over the world to contribute their small amounts to make a big pie. For example, User A may want a certain feature implements and may be willing to pay $10 for it but it isn''t worth it for the developer to do this feature for less than $100. In the old days nothing would happen- the user loses by not getting the feature and the developer doesn''t get any money. Now with MetPoints they can both still win because User B may be interested in this feature also and be willing to donate $10 also. User C really wants this and is willing to contribute $50. With a few more $5 donates from D,E,F and G and 10 $1 donations from around the globe suddenly everyone is happy. Everyone get''s the feature they wanted and the developer will treat this as a paid client and work on this immediately!

| | · How do I get my idea on the feature (Idea) list? You can submit a feature request by going to the project''s page and submitting a request. MetOpen will evaluate this idea and see if it is feasible for us to do. If so we will publish it as an idea so that other''s can vote on it with their metpoints.
Feasilble ideas include (but aren''t limited to) a feature request to one of our modules or a tweak to PHPNuke, even creating a new module. Other ideas, even if good, that are too large or we dont have control over will be rejected. For "rewrite PHP-Nuke using only AJAX" is an interesting idea but far out of the scope of what we are looking for. If you ask us to make an update to someone else''s module we will probably not consider it because it is out of our control to get the feature permanently implemented. On the other hand if you want us to take over developement of your module we will consider it if it fits well into our portfolio.

| | · How do I earn MetPoints MetPoints are earned by contributers to the open source (especially PHPNuke community). There are three ways to earn points:
- Create addons for PHPNuke- If you create addons for for PHPNuke (e.g. themes, modules, blocks) MetOpen will reward you MetPoints. The amount of points depends on several factors including how frequently metopen uses your contribution and how important it is to the PHP community. Please request points if you contribute to the community.
- Help out at MetOpen- When you consistantly offer constructive answers to user forum posts and help resolve issues we will reward you with MetPoints. Also we may be looking for assistance (especially graphic design) for some of our various projects (some not metopen related) and we''''''''ll give you points if we use your services so let us know if you are willing to help out.
.
- Donate When you donate to MetOpen you get Metpoints:
Less than $10-
each $1=5 point
$10-$99-
each $1=8 points (And access to our premium forums- 1 month for each $10 donated.)
$100 and up-
each $1=10 points (And access to our premium forums for 1 year)
We will not just give out points for no reason as each point represents community contribution which we feel we must repay. Please contact us in advance if you are concerned about the number of points you will get. [ Back to Top ]
| | · Are there any guarantees that a feature is implemented? There are no guarantees but the closer an idea comes to it''s "Point Guarantee" the more likely it will be implemented. (Keep in mind the difficulty level of each project varies.) [ Back to Top ]
| | · Are MetPoints redeemable for any money? No. They are our internal reward point system. [ Back to Top ]
| | · How can I cheat MetPoints? We will not stand for any attempt to trick our system. When we catch someone attempting to defraud us we will automatically expel them from our site and pursue legal action. If you do come across a vulnerability in our system let us know and you will be rewarded.
There are enough legitimate ways to earn points dont waste your time trying to cheat us it to contribute back to the community. [ Back to Top ]
| | · Can I change my vote? Yes, you can change (or eliminate) your vote at any time until the idea is locked. A locked idea means it is being worked on and will be released soon! [ Back to Top ]
